Many many things get sent form email to email address, jokes, letters, work files, general catching up and staying in contact with people from around the world. Many people send each other ecards or send videos directly from sites (yahoo music you can email the video to a friend) which means that the sites get more hits as they send a link to their site with the email constantly advertising themselves.

Majority of DVDs feature an introduction before they get to the menu and there are always adverts advertising other films while you wait for the film to start. The Matrix for example had a white rabbit function, you went into the features menu and turned on the white rabbit which meant as the film progressed and things started to happen, a white rabbit would pop up in the corner of the screen and if you selected it you would see a special short films/documentaries about how they done that set, or shot that scene.
