Task 2 - Contemporary Music Video Research
The opening for this video shows the Beginning of what appears to be a music video but as we draw closer you see what is really going on. if this video had to be explained in a sentence i would say, that it is about the corruption of holly wood on the world.
this video is one that, the more times you watch it the more you pick out, it has a repeatability about it, you don't get bored of watching is because it is impossible to see every thing first time or even second.
The video for the song involves various people being drastically changed by the media and paparazzi, which is what the song is said to be about. Hey Monday lead singer Cassadee Pope with Tony Chaw makes an appearance in the video. Clips of the band performing in exaggerated circus costumes on a carousel are shown throughout the video to emphasize the strange qualities of the world they are in.
Pete Wentz the bass player has said that the music video was inspired by director Federico Fellini, as well as the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Each band member's costume represents a character from various lyrics on Folie à Deux:
* Stump: Mr. Benzedrine (from "20 Dollar Nose Bleed")
* Wentz: Mr. Sandman (from "Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet")
* Hurley: Donnie the Catcher (from "What a Catch, Donnie")
* Trohman: Horse Shoe Crab (from "The (Shipped) Gold Standard")
fans have received the video well many describing it as their favorite fall out boy work so far however many have found the video disturbing and strange, depending on how you view the content it can be both, it can be weirdly beautiful and strangely disturbing, however it is hard to get over the idea of the lead vocalist wearing lipstick, if like me you are a fan it is an strange idea to you.

a lot of the comments refer to the video and the genius of the band and a lot of the comments refer to the way teenagers are stereotyped.
This video is at first confusing and dosnt seem to have any real refrence to the lyrics, many coments i have read say that apprently the song has something to do with losing your virginity but i hinestly cant hear it.
it is a mix of summer solstice and little pixie girls running around in the woods and makes for a rather annoying video, florence seems to be to much of the showman rather than a story teller (that is if theres a story to be told), i find the video to be far to simple for the over complicated song. it makes you question what is meant to be happening especially when it comes to the memorial/funeral as there has been no indication or mention to death or anything of the variety, it seems that the emotions are fake enough to be noticed on the screen and the candle light vigil at the lake side as the table turned coffin floats away makes no sense with the song, i can find no relation between audio and visual, and no relation between lyrics and visuals either. all in all a bad video.
fans however have different tune to sing for this video,

many of them giving praise for florence and the machine and the video its self, one of them saying that it looks like a fairytale, that analogy i agree with but still the video seems a tad pointless.
